A little about me…
The Thyme to Nourish Difference
With 10 years of experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Reiki I Practitioner, and Essential Emotions Coach, I’ve had the opportunity to work extensively in the mental health space. However, I felt a calling to utilize my skills to offer a more comprehensive, whole-person approach to mental health. When I’m not assisting clients, I enjoy spending quality time with my loved ones.
I’m a firm believer that everyone’s path to healing is unique. As such, I offer a comprehensive approach tailored to the individual, with a focus on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Healing can take on many different forms, and although our bodies possess the innate ability to self-heal, sometimes they require a little extra support. That’s where my work comes in; I aim to bridge the gap so that women feel heard, understood, and empowered to take control of their own healing journey.
When we consider the notion of wellness and being healthy, we often associate it with individuals who have a healthy weight and are in good shape. It’s important to note that these are not the only indicators of good health, however, we must acknowledge that physical health can have a greater impact on mental well-being than we might realize. At Thyme to Nourish, we’re dedicated to helping support your physical health by focusing on proper nutrition. We’ll work with you to develop a nourishing diet that includes healthy proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Additionally, emphasis is placed on obtaining sufficient nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. Your brain and body’s ability to function optimally will suffer if you fail to provide them with nourishing, healthy foods. Ensuring your blood sugar is balanced is also key to managing anxiety and depression. Lastly, we will cover the importance of prioritizing proper hydration and adequate sleep.
When contemplating the causes of mental health conditions like depression or anxiety, we typically assume it’s due to a deficiency in brain chemicals. While this is undoubtedly true for many, it’s not always the sole cause of mental health conditions. To attain optimal mental well-being, it’s necessary to balance essential hormones and neurotransmitters. As an expert in this field, I assist individuals in achieving this equilibrium. Our thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes frequently hinder our mental health. To feel our best, we must address these factors.
Emotional health is an essential aspect of overall wellness, although it is frequently grouped with mental health. Effectively regulating our emotions is crucial to living a fulfilling life that we love. At some point in our lives, we all experience various degrees of trauma, whether significant or minor, long-term or short-term, and they all affect our emotional well-being. My conviction is that any physical or mental health issue has an emotional root cause. I help individuals recognize and manage these emotions and ultimately release them through a variety of techniques.
Many of us are now recognizing the importance of spiritual health and how it affects our overall well-being. Nonetheless, integrating spiritual health into the healing process can be a daunting task. It’s easy to mistake spirituality and religion as interchangeable terms, but they are distinct concepts. Although religion can be a part of one’s spirituality, the two are not the same. Acknowledging a higher power, whatever that may be for you, is a crucial aspect. It’s vital to have values and beliefs that provide us with a sense of purpose and meaning in life, and to keep searching for this purpose as it evolves over time. Additionally, understanding that we are all interconnected is another significant aspect of spiritual health. When working with clients, my objective is not to impose my beliefs but to help them discover their truth. I also strive to help others develop their intuition and provide them with the guidance and connection they need in their lives.
“But what does all of this have to do with my anxiety and depression, Michelle?!”
Employing a wide array of techniques and taking into account the entire body in the healing process allows for the various components to synergize and seamlessly transition from one aspect of healing to the next. Our sessions prioritize a holistic approach to healing, not solely focusing on medication, but rather enabling you to thrive and achieve a life you cherish. The healing process can be likened to peeling back layers of an onion, where each layer exposes a new one as we progress and prepare for the next step.
